Dear Gatos is a letter written to keep alive the memory of John Alexander Coleman, professor of Spanish and Latin American Literature at New York University.

It was written in recognition of his inimitable way of life, that meant so much to me.

The letter is addressed to the grandchildren of his great friends Bill and Susie Crofut, who became grandparents and so turned him into one too.
